File Backup vs Disk Backup

File backup software saves user data on the file layer. Disk backup software creates a copy of disk at the low level.

File backup is easy for common user, but if the system crashes, the user has to reinstall the system before restoring data.

Disk backup may restore even a crashed operating system, but it works only on the same hardware. If you replace a computer, or some of its part with the new one, you may have a problem to restore the data.

Both types of backup software are useful, so you may choose any of them depending on your requirements.
